Day
1, Fri. BOARD YOUR OVER-NIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.
Day 2, Sat. ARRIVAL IN
DUBROVNIK, CROATIA.
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your
hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure. (D)
NOTE:
Because of the narrow and historic roads in Dubrovnik,
walking is the primary way of getting around. Pack good
walking shoes.
Day 3, Sun. DUBROVNIK.
Dubrovnik is over 1,000 years old and an architectural
marvel. Entering its gates is like a step back in time
cross a wooden bridge past the gate towers, wind
your way through the inner gate and enter on to the Placa,
the gleaming limestone street that runs straight to the
entrance gates at the other end of the town. A morning
tour includes the Rectors Palace, Bell Tower clock,
Orlandos Column and the Sponza Palace. You will
also see the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery
with its Pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world. After
the tour you may want to visit St. Blaises Cathedral,
the open farmers market, some of the numerous art
galleries, coffee shops or fine restaurants. During the
summer months (July, August), Dubrovnik is host to one
of the oldest and most popular Summer Festivals in Europe,
with a number of outstanding theater and music companies
performing at various open air venues around the town.

Day 4, Mon. DUBROVNIK / SPLIT.
This morning, depart Dubrovnik and travel north along
the spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages
and new resorts, to Split. Enjoy a tour of this city of
200,000, the cultural and economic hub of Centra Dalmatia.
Most of Splits historical and cultural monuments
can be found within the walls of 1,700 year old Roman
Emperor Diocletians Palace. Splits historic
inner city, built around the Palace is included in the
register of the World Cultural Heritage and protected
by UNESCO. Also, see Jupiters Temple, the Peristyle
and the Cathedral. (B,D)
Day 5, Tue. SPLIT / TROGIR
/ ZADAR / PLITVICE LAKES.
After breakfast this morning, head north along the coast
to Trogir, a center of artistic activities, where scholars
from around the world gather to study and paint. Then,
on to Zadar, the oldest Slavic city on the Adriatic and
once a famed cultural center. Enjoy an orientation tour
that includes the ruins of the Roman Forum, Cathedral
and St. Donat Church. Then, continue inland towards beautiful
Plitvice Lakes National Park. (B,D)
Day 6, Wed. PLITVICE LAKES.
P litvice Lakes National Park, listed in UNESCOs
World Heritage register, is a system of emerald green
lakes connected by waterfalls and cascades. You have a
full day to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural
wonder with its 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly
wooded mountains and lush vegetation. In the morning,
theres a walking tour around several of the lower
lakes. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B,D)
Day 7, Thu. PLITVICE LAKES
/ OPATIJA / POSTOJNA,
SLOVENIA / BLED. Return to the coast to beautiful Kvarner
Bay and its popular resort, Opatija. Then head north into
Slovenia and to the town of Postojna, home of one of the
largest caves in Europe. Tour this fantastic subterranean
world by miniature electric train. Afterwards, your journey
continues
to the lovely town of Bled, beautifully situated in the
Julian Alps. (B,D)
Day 8, Fri. BLED.
An Alpine lake surrounded by the high peaks, Bled was
discovered by travelers in the middle of the
19th century. Since then, a small town of beautiful hotels,
villas, and restaurants has developed around the lake,
turning Bled into a lively all seasons resort. A morning
sightseeing tour features the lakeshore and includes a
visit to Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the
lake and surrounded by the Julian Alps. The balance of
the day is at leisure for optional activities. Perhaps,
visit the old church with its collection of religious
art, set on a small island in the middle of the lake.

Day 9, Sat. BLED / LJUBLJANA
/ ZAGREB, CROATIA.
Travel to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, founded
by Illyrians between 1000 and 500 BC. Its edifices and
monuments are witnesses of its long history. A sightseeing
tour will include the Baroque Old Town, a visit to the
open-air market, City Hall, Robba's Fountain, the Three
Bridges and Parliament. Then, on to Zagreb, the capital
of Croatia since 1557. The Upper Town is one of the best
maintained medieval cities in Europe, with museums, galleries
and numerous monuments. Your sightseeing tour will take
you along the historic Upper Town to see St. Marks
Church, St. Catherines Church, the Cathedral, the
Parliament and the Government Palace. The rest of the
day is at leisure. (B,D)
Day 10, Sun. DEPART ZAGREB.
Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)
