I cracked the window shutters
and looked to the direction from which the enjoyment appeared
to be
coming, first noticing the bluish-grren Caribbean ocean set
against a cloudless light blue sky.
Then, appearing from behind a
large bush ladened with brilliant red flowers came a middle-aged
couple riding bicycles, in their robes, along a path lined with
wild orchids.
Such was the beginning of a
relaxing, momorable visit to Jumby Bay all inclusive resort
on the island of Antigua.
My wife,Dorothy, and I just returned
from eight days in paradise at this three hundred acre private
enclave which is actually located two miles northeast of Antigua
on a private island. This naturalist haven is home to endangered
spicies of turtles, rare birds, and
yes.......sheep! This secluded hideaway is accessible by an
eight minute boat ride from Antigua and is known worldwide for
providing discerning travelers with world-class service and
distinguished amenities.

If long,quiet, white sand beaches,
afternoon tea and
evening cocktail parties, sunset cruises, and international
gourmet cuisine suit your fancy, then Jumby Bay is sure to delight.
If you have a high energy level, you might also enjoy a variety
of water sports including snorkeling, water-skiing, wind surfing,
sailing, kayaking, and sea-cycling which are all included in
your vacation package. Also included are tennis, a croquet lawn,
putting green
and a 25 meter lap pool for your enjoyment.

All of our meals were enjoyed
at either the open-air Verandah Terrace Restaurant with spectacular
views of the Caribbean Ocean, or the historic Estate House,
Jumby Bay's signature restaurant located in a 230 year old English
plantation manor. One evening around 8pm we received a call
from the sincerely troubled head waiter at the Estate House
restaurant asking if we were okay since
we hadn't shown up for our usual 7:30pm dinner. We thanked him
for his concern explaining we had simply eaten too much lobster
at lunch and couldn't possibly consume another meal that day.
If you enjoy being on the water,as
we do,you'll enjoy the one hour 15 minute catamaran ride over
to arbuda, Antigua's sister island, where you'll find pink sand
beaches and a fascinating bird sanctuary.
Shopping in St. John, Antigua's capital city, produced several
interesting gifts for family members. We also entertained ourselves
with a half day tour of the island stopping at Shirley Hights
atop an old English fort, Nelson's Dockyard, and the Devil's
Bridge sporting
blow holes and memorable views.
The Antiguan climate is one of the best in the Caribbean, with
little rainfall. During May to November, average daytimes temperatures
range around 89 degrees with constant sea breezes and trade
winds keeping the air fresh and annual temperatures around 81
degrees.
I, and my co-workers, would be happy to arrange your
unforgetable escape to Jumby Bay resort or other resort such
as Sandals Antigua.
